[Wokett]

Props to my good friend Jason for his awesome blog dedicated to his children. And if I may, with his permission, take the liberty of using his writing style in my own "Caleb Story". A fun little moment worth recording!

Caleb: OH, wow, LOOK
Miss Elley: Yah Caleb, it's a blimp
Caleb: noooo, that no bimp, THAT a wokett
Miss Elley: Actually, I'm pretty sure that's a blimp. It's like a plane.
Caleb: Nope Miss Elley, I know rowketts and that a wokett wight up there.

*wokett: a large flying object strongly resembling the goodyear blimp that is actually a cleverly disguised rocket.

[Fight]

I don't want to fight for joy tonight. We're doing a John Piper series at the ministry I co-lead and it's called "When I don't desire God, the fight for joy". Boy is it a FIGHT tonight. But i'm not fighting too well right now.

Living what we're teaching our flock...it's hard. Maybe I should do a series on baking cookies...i like cookies...just not chocolate ones.

[TwentyQ]

I have a twenty Q... this little gadget/toy like electronic that is supposed to guess what you're thinking in twenty questions. I got it at my work Christmas Party (i know what you're thinking...big spenders in my company) and that very night stumped it with a friend of mine. I haven't paid much attention to it until the other night when i couldn't sleep. But there is sat on my dresser so i picked it up and thought of something....i thought "home"...and 20 questions later it guessed "house". Wow, i'm impressed. I'll try again...and once again it came quite close. So, one last time i thought....this time it was the word "man"...and so it began

Animal? -no, well...yeah, no
Mineral? -nope
Other? yep

And it began the interigation with questions like
Is it bigger than a pound of butter...uh, yeah

And then it was over. I waited.
....
....
....
....
It guessed.
"I know what you are thinking" it said.
"You are thinking of....."
"A BUTT"

I laughed outloud and almost fell out of my bed. I had to share.

[Dayquil]

hack, cough, sneeze, cough, wheeze, sneeze, sneeze, sneeze...the dangers of too much dayquil

i'm sick and i'm not happy about it. maybe it during the combination of freezing cold weather and wearing a midevil princess gown that lacked much warmth at trunk or treat, maybe it was while i helped a friend move his mattresses in 35 degree rainy weather, maybe it from a friend at work who's been sick for almost 2 weeks, but wherever it was it got me. and i sound awful.....which my friend at work so joyfully pointed out most of yesterday. while studying with one of the pastors on staff he decided to repeat everything i say in his best Elmer Fudd impressionist voice. now, although he denies it, this same friend is one of the possible culprits for my being sick since he's been sneezing and hacking all over the office. and you’d think the guilt of this possibility would induce a little sympathy wouldn't you? sad to say, far from it, and in fact he continued his burst repetitions during most of our meeting:

me: where was that reference?
diddy: id whadz whoamans eight thurdyish

me: so what is the point of the gift of tongues?
diddy: yah ed, whad id da point od da guft od tongues?

me: are you practicing tonight?
diddy: whad u tay?

if only i could remember some of the other ones because there were plenty. i think we did a pretty good job of entertaining the pastor we were meeting with at least. there was a brief moment he ceased from repeating everything i said, much like my 9 year old cousin does when he's had too much sugar, to ask me to run sound for him at an event last night! but as soon as the 'sure' left my mouth he picked right back up: "otay, i see you ad six thurdy". and you know, he was already pressing his luck b/c he went and got my comrad-in-crime's son before i could get him tuesday night at church. perhaps i didn't make it clear that i've added "hold my co-leader's incredibly cute son every chance i get" to my job description.

well, you'd think i'd endured enough wouldn't you? i did too but at the end of the meeting when i announce i'm starving, not that my rumbling stomach hadn't made tha clear the last hour, he looks at me and informs me he has one cupcake left in his office and if i repeat the act of eating his last cupcake, as what previously done to him, i will be subject to the wrath of blog retaliation. the last cupcake from a box that i might add, i bought for him on his birthday a few weeks ago out of pity for his traumatizing experience. i've come to the conclusion that he's had far too much dayquil. and although i didn't eat his last cupcake, i decided this was worth blogging about.

at least he made me laugh ;)

[TrashBags]

you know the saying "couldn't find their way out of a paper bag"? you should ask my mom why i just found myself saying "couldn't find your way into a trash bag" a few moments ago.

for being one of the brighter bulbs in the box, trash bags seem to be her weak point. right mom? bet you wish you had a blog now!
